Winning the Battle as the Underdog
Deputy Director General of the CIC, Mark Ryan, took part in Hungary’s World Conservation Forum 2021 (WCF 2021) as one of the main stage speakers, giving a presentation on ‘Winning the Battle as the Underdog.’
The WCF 2021 took place within the framework of the One with Nature – World of Hunting and Nature Exhibition. It provided a platform for individuals, organisations, associations – from the private, public, and non-profit sectors – to tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues related to conservation and wildlife management.
Building on his experiences and research in the field of human-wildlife conflict, Mark Ryan looked at the underlying human-human conflicts that influence wildlife conservation and management decisions today.
He discussed the perceptions around wildlife at the local level, the climate in the international wildlife conservation arena and, perhaps most importantly, how the voices and facts from hunters can make a difference.
