On 29 August, children and families gathered in Hungary for a joyful day celebrating wildlife, hunting and the connection between people and nature. Children’s Hunters’ Day brought the next generation closer to the traditions, values and conservation efforts at the heart of responsible hunting. The CIC was proud to support the event both financially and through an interactive performance designed especially for the occasion.
Bringing wildlife to life through a fairy tale
One of the highlights of the day was a fairy tale performed using animal sounds and storytelling. The story followed hunters helping wild animals through a period of drought by providing water in the forest, highlighting the important relationship between hunters, wildlife and healthy ecosystems. A number of game species featured in the story, including birds and mammals, with a particular focus on the red deer. The animal sounds were brought to life by Tamás Erdélyi, European champion in red deer roaring. The story was narrated by Beatrix Bán, President of the CIC Artemis Working Group, supported by the acting of CIC representatives. Through this playful and engaging performance, children were introduced to wildlife in a way that connected entertainment with a broader message about caring for and understanding wild animals.
Inspiring the next generation
Events such as Children’s Hunters’ Day provide an important opportunity to create positive connections between young people and the natural world. By combining education, entertainment and hands-on experiences, children can discover the diversity of wildlife around them and learn more about the people working to conserve it. For the CIC, supporting initiatives that bring people together around wildlife and responsible hunting is an important part of its work. The enthusiastic response to the event demonstrated the value of creating opportunities for the next generation to learn, participate and develop an appreciation for nature.
The CIC is grateful to the Hungarian National Hunting Chamber for its support through the 1 EUR/hunter initiative and everyone involved in making this special day possible, and particularly to those who helped bring the wildlife fairy tale to life. A memorable day celebrating wildlife, hunting and the next generation of conservationists.
