CIC Museum Palárikovo
A Noble History
Maxime Ducrocq and Count Louis Károlyi held discussions on establishing the CIC for two years before it was finally founded in 1930.
The discussions took place in Count Károlyi’s manor in Palárikovo, Slovakia. The Minister of Agriculture of the Slovak Republic approved the establishment of a permanent CIC Centre at the Károlyi Manor.
The permanent CIC exhibition, regularly updated, demonstrates modern wildlife management in accordance with the IUCN resolution on the sustainable use of wildlife resources. The Manor, covering an area of over 7000 m2, is located about one hour from Bratislava and Budapest, two hours from Vienna, and serves as the spiritual center of the CIC.
It is used for CIC activities, conferences, and exhibitions, and also functions as a hotel for hunting guests looking to explore the southern part of Slovakia, where hunting is possible for large and small game. The restored Manor is a point of attraction for hunters worldwide and provides information on the benefits of nature and game conservation as practiced by today’s hunters.

The legendary village of Tótmegyer has a long and storied past. Belonging to Hungary up until 1918, then changing hands to Czechoslovakia, it can today be found in Slovakia as the municipality of Pálarikovo, which is also home to the CIC Museum.
Co-founder of the CIC, Count Lajos Károlyi of Nagykároly (1872-1965), was among the former owners of Tótmegyer.
Legendary Tótmegyer (2023) is an intellectual and factual memorial to the history of Tótmegyer, its famous landlord and the Károlyi family. The book was authored by Professor Sándor Faragó in its original language of Hungarian, and has now been translated into English for wider consumption.
