General Assembly
The CIC General Assembly (GA) is the flagship annual event that brings together CIC members, government representatives, experts, and stakeholders to discuss the future of wildlife conservation and sustainable use. It serves as a critical platform for sharing knowledge, shaping policy, and forging international partnerships to advance the CIC’s mission. The General Assembly typically features a diverse programme, including high-level keynote speeches, panel discussions, and thematic working groups, covering a range of topics from species management and biodiversity conservation to the role of hunting in sustainable development.
Previous GAs have led to significant conservation advancements, such as the adoption of new strategic frameworks aligned with global biodiversity goals and the launch of key conservation initiatives. The event also provides opportunities for attendees to network with like-minded professionals and contribute to the ongoing work of the CIC through specialised forums and sessions. Social activities and excursions highlight the cultural and environmental heritage of the host country, allowing participants to engage with local traditions while discussing global conservation strategies.
This year’s General Assembly will take place in Doha, Qatar, from April 25-27, 2025. With the theme of “Mediation,” the 2025 GA will focus on the intersection of wildlife conservation, cultural heritage, and modern environmental challenges. The event will place a particular emphasis on falconry, a practice deeply rooted in Qatar’s heritage. The programme includes various sessions and workshops, along with cultural excursions and a grand gala dinner featuring a live auction, offering unique items donated by members and supporters. The event will be an unparalleled opportunity for attendees to contribute to the global dialogue on conservation and sustainable use.
