The International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) is pleased to welcome the African Professional Hunters Association (APHA) into our global NGO network, which now counts over 90 organisations working alongside CIC State Members and individual members worldwide.
Founded in 1993, APHA is a highly selective organisation of Africa’s most experienced and respected professional hunters. Its membership spans across Botswana, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, representing the core of the continent’s professional hunting community.
APHA’s motto, Nec Timor Nec Temeritas — Neither Fear nor Foolhardiness — reflects the skill, responsibility, and courage of its members, who are dedicated to guiding dangerous game hunts with the highest standards of ethics and safety.
Beyond guiding safaris, APHA members are recognised leaders in conservation. They bring decades of experience as wardens, anti-poaching rangers, outfitters, land managers, naturalists, and environmental educators. Many also serve on boards of international hunting and conservation organisations, and work closely with African governments to defend science-based wildlife management decisions.
By joining the CIC, APHA strengthens our shared mission to demonstrate how sustainable hunting underpins biodiversity conservation, cultural heritage, and rural development. Together, we will amplify the voice of Africa’s professional hunters in global conservation debates, in line with the CIC’s 2030 Strategic Plan.
We look forward to close collaboration with APHA in promoting hunting as a vital conservation tool for the benefit of wildlife and people.
