Erding, Germany, 24 August 2024 – The German Delegation of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) held its annual Autumn Meeting (Herbsttagung) on the picturesque estate of Markus Binding in Erding, Bavaria near Munich. The event saw the active participation of 70 members, reflecting the delegation’s strong engagement and commitment to advancing the CIC’s mission.

The Autumn Meeting was a platform for policy discussions and networking. Key figures from the CIC German Delegation gathered to discuss hunting ethics, strategic planning, and international conservation efforts.

Key Highlights:

    • Ethics of Hunting: A pivotal part of the meeting was dedicated to discussing and adopting a new position paper on the ethics of hunting. This document, prepared by leading delegation members, will guide future actions and reinforce the ethical framework within which the CIC operates.

    • International Affairs: CIC President Dr. Philipp Harmer, along with other senior members, provided updates on international hunting matters, emphasizing the importance of cohesive and collaborative efforts in addressing global conservation challenges.

    • Youth Engagement: The meeting also underscored the importance of involving the younger generation in hunting and conservation initiatives, with discussions led by the Young Opinion group.
