Honoring a Milestone: Celebrating Steffen Koch’s Leadership and Dedication
Today, the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) celebrates a special milestone—the 60th birthday of Dr. Steffen Koch, a respected leader and advocate for wildlife conservation. Since succeeding Wilhelm von Trott as head of the German delegation in 2020, Dr. Koch has left an indelible mark on the CIC and the broader conservation community.
His tenure has been characterized by transformative advancements in media and political advocacy, reshaping public perceptions of international hunting in Germany. From spearheading efforts against trophy import bans to fostering a trusted partnership with the Deutscher Jagdverband (German Hunting Federation), his work has safeguarded the future of sustainable use and conservation.
Dr. Koch’s leadership has inspired a motivated and cohesive team, driving key studies on topics such as red deer genetics, forestry-wildlife harmony, and international hunting’s sustainability. His collaborative efforts extend to strengthening ties with Europe’s largest hunting fair, Jagd & Hund.
Outside his professional endeavors, Dr. Koch treasures his time hunting both locally and globally, reflecting the deep connection to nature that informs his advocacy. His achievements are made possible by the steadfast support of his wife, Mara, who shares in his commitment to balancing family, professional, and conservation responsibilities.
The CIC community expresses its gratitude to Dr. Koch for his leadership, vision, and dedication. We look forward to continuing this journey together and celebrating many more milestones in the years to come.
Happy Birthday, Steffen!
