Budapest, 9 June 2025 — The International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) has concluded a specialised trophy evaluation training programme in Hungary, resulting in the certification of 20 new CIC Certified Measurers (CCMs).
The training focused on civil servants responsible for Hungary’s mandatory trophy evaluation system. These individuals, who operate at government offices nationwide, were equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge to reinforce the consistency and scientific integrity of evaluations. The programme follows similar successful initiatives in 2018 and 2019, carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.
Participants were trained with a special emphasis on the differences between Hungarian legal requirements and the CIC Trophy Evaluation System (TES), ensuring full compliance with international standards and best practices.
“This training ensures that those involved in the daily application of trophy evaluation are fully aligned with both domestic rules and the CIC’s global standards,” said Arno Wimpffen, Deputy Director General of the CIC. “It is encouraging to see such a strong commitment to technical excellence and the responsible assessment of wildlife trophies.”
While all Hungarian trophy evaluations already follow the CIC system, further training sessions are planned to ensure that all measurers across the country remain fully up to date with the latest CIC rules and regulations.
The CIC Trophy Evaluation System plays a vital role in promoting sustainable use, objective monitoring, and biodiversity conservation, as part of the CIC 2030 Strategic Plan.
