On January 22, 2025, a team of three Senior International Trophy Judges from the CIC convened in Bakonyszentlászló, Hungary, to evaluate a Fallow Buck hunted on October 18, 2024, near Veszprémvarsány. Led by Miloslav Vach of the Czech Republic, the evaluation concluded with a remarkable score of 242.7 CIC points, surpassing the previous world record—set in 2002—by over 5 points. This achievement further cements the region’s reputation, with five of the highest-scoring Fallow Bucks (above 230 points) originating from Hungary and two from Slovakia.
Adding to its distinction, the trophy’s dry skull weight measured an unprecedented 6.43 kg, making it the heaviest recorded for a free-range Fallow Buck.
In accordance with CIC protocol, the trophy will now advance to the next meeting of the CIC International Trophy Evaluation Board (ITEB) for final confirmation and ratification of its status as a free-range world record.
This evaluation highlights the CIC’s dedication to promoting sustainable wildlife management and ensuring the highest standards in trophy assessment.
