With just weeks to go, the 72nd CIC General Assembly in Vienna (16–19 April 2026) is set to become one of the most strongly attended gatherings in the organisation’s history. More than 600 participants are expected, marking record engagement across State Members, NGOs, and the wider international conservation community. A limited number of places remain available.
Held in the historic heart of Vienna, the Assembly will focus on the Global Wildlife Economy, examining how sustainable use contributes to biodiversity conservation, rural resilience, and ecosystem balance.
Key sessions will address species management, including European hare monitoring and coordinated Chamois research across mountain ecosystems, alongside discussions on policy, science, and social licence.
A central cultural highlight will be the Traditional Hunters’ Mass at Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral), featuring hornblowers, hunting choir, Schützen in traditional dress, and falconry elements — reflecting Europe’s rich hunting heritage in one of its most historic cathedrals.
Evening events include receptions at the Natural History Museum Vienna (for Council and Executive Committee) and Palais Liechtenstein, culminating in the Gala Dinner and International Hunting Auction at the Hilton Vienna Park.
Registration remains open to CIC members and invited guests, subject to availability.
