CIC President Dr. Philipp Harmer Awarded Golden Decoration of Honour of the Republic of Austria
Vienna, 10 December 2024 – The International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) is proud to announce that its President, Dr. Philipp Harmer, has been awarded the prestigious Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der Republik Österreich (Golden Decoration of Honour of the Republic of Austria) by Federal Minister for Agriculture, Norbert Totschnig. This esteemed distinction highlights Dr. Harmer’s outstanding contributions to fostering cooperation between hunters, landowners, associations, and policymakers, as well as his dedication to promoting sustainable wildlife management and conservation.
The award ceremony, held at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management in Vienna, celebrated Dr. Harmer’s tireless efforts in communicating the critical role hunters play in supporting ecosystems and societal well-being. Minister Totschnig praised Dr. Harmer for his exemplary leadership and vision, underscoring the importance of his work in advocating for sustainable use practices and improving wildlife habitats.
In addition to his professional success as a businessman, Dr. Harmer has devoted himself to the mission of the CIC, to advance conservation principles. Attending the ceremony alongside Dr. Harmer were Dr. Max Count Schaffgotsch, Vice- President of the CIC Policy and Law Division; Sebastian Winkler, CEO of the CIC; and DI Arno von Wimpffen, Deputy CEO of the CIC.
